Answer:  Carolina Precision Switchgear’s is a diversified group of technical directors, supervisors, and technicians who have teamed together to create a comprehensive electrical testing company. Our management team has vast experience with major utility companies including nuclear, fossil and hydro circuit breakers, switchgear, power factor and relay testing, bringing their total number of years in the business to well over 100!  

Question: What circuit breakers do you service?

Answer: All major brands, including to ABB, Westinghouse, General Electric, Allis Chalmers, Square D, and Cutler-Hammer.

Question: Do you have technicians that can remove covers from energized low voltage switchgear to perform infrared survey inspections?

Answer: ​Yes, CPS keeps a qualified staff of electrical technicians who have been arc flash-trained and can remove covers from low voltage switchgear while energized.

Question: Can you upgrade a low voltage circuit breaker with OD type tripping devices to a new solid state tripping unit?

Answer: ​Yes, we can retrofit your aging tripping devices. CPS can recommend a tripping device for your application or retrofit with your required unit.

Question: Can Carolina Precision Switchgear perform on-site circuit breaker service?

Answer: ​Yes, we are also a mobile company that can perform circuit breaker preventative maintenance, repair and reconditioning at your facility or ours.​

Question: Does my equipment need to be shut down to perform the infrared thermography inspection?

Answer: ​ No, because all equipment must be operating during our inspection. All electrical and mechanical equipment should be under full load during the inspection.​

Question: What will I receive with an infrared thermography survey?

Answer: ​You will receive photo quality pictures and a full report analyzing your equipment or building.​
